About this gym
Kill Cliff FC is a mixed martial arts gym in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Unlike most gyms of its standing, it does not spread across the whole weight range: its fighters are concentrated in the middle, around welterweight, lightweight and middleweight. The heaviest and lightest divisions are thin here.
What a narrow gym does well
It is tempting to read concentration as a weakness. It is mostly a strength, and a specific one. Every fighter in the main band has several training partners of genuinely similar size, week after week, not just during a camp.
That is harder to arrange than it sounds. Same-size partners are the one part of preparation a gym cannot improvise: you can borrow a coach, a nutritionist or a facility, but you cannot invent a training partner who weighs what your opponent weighs. A gym built around one band of weight has them by design.
The cost lands at the edges. A fighter at the heavy end of this roster has little company his own size, and prepares in a room that cannot fully reproduce what he will meet on the night. Every gym makes this trade; this one has made it clearly.
Where the fighters come from
A substantial share of this roster was born outside the United States, across a wide spread of countries. Brazil and Japan are both represented, which is a less usual combination in a North American gym than it sounds.
They arrived separately rather than as a group. That tends to show in the training: styles that come in one at a time get absorbed by the room, where a group arriving together is more likely to reshape it.
What you will find below
Most of the fighters listed here compete at the top level of the sport, and the rest are spread across a small number of other promotions.
One absence is worth stating rather than leaving you to notice it: there are no women's divisions on this roster. Many comparable gyms carry fighters in them.
The pages below list every fighter in this catalogue whose most recent bout came out of this gym, with their weight class, nationality, record and how each of their last five fights ended.
