Fight Ready is a mixed martial arts gym in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the northern part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Arizona has become one of the quieter centres of American MMA — not a fight market in the way Las Vegas is, but a place where a serious room can operate without the costs and distractions of one.
Altitude, heat and camp logistics
The desert is a training environment as much as a location. Camps run in sustained heat produce a different kind of conditioning work than camps run at sea level in a temperate city, and fighters preparing for cards in hot climates have historically gone looking for exactly that.
Phoenix also has the practical advantages that matter to a camp: it is affordable to live in, it is a direct flight from most of the United States, and the drive to the Nevada fight commission is a few hours rather than a transcontinental trip. Those things do not appear in a record, but they decide where fighters base themselves.
