About this gym

SBG Ireland is a mixed martial arts gym in Dublin, and it belongs to an international network of affiliated schools rather than standing alone. That matters more than it sounds: an affiliation means a shared curriculum, visiting coaches, and fighters who can train at a partner room in another country without starting over.

A national gym, and a European one

This roster is split almost evenly between Irish fighters and fighters from elsewhere in Europe and beyond. Very few gyms outside the largest fight markets manage that balance. It is what separates a gym that serves its city from one that has become a destination — people do not relocate to a country with a small domestic scene unless the room itself is the reason.

The Irish contingent has its own marker: Dublin recurs as a birthplace far more than any other. A gym can be international in its intake and still be deeply local in its origins, and this one is both at once.

Grappling underneath, mixed on top

The school's roots are in jiu-jitsu, and rooms with that history tend to produce a particular kind of fighter — one who is comfortable when the fight goes to the floor and treats the ground as a place to work rather than a place to escape. The striking is layered on afterwards, which usually shows up as patience at range and a readiness to accept the clinch.

The weight classes here run through the lighter and middle bands, with the welterweight range carrying the most. There is a women's entry as well, which for a European roster of this size is uncommon and worth noting: the depth needed to prepare a woman for a professional bout is the hardest thing for a small gym outside a major market to provide.

What the promotions column shows

The careers here are not concentrated in a single organisation. Several promotions appear, which is the normal shape of a European scene: the regional circuit builds fighters, and the largest organisations sign them afterwards. Reading a record from this gym without that context understates it.

The pages below list every fighter in this catalogue whose most recent bout came out of this gym, with their weight class, nationality, record and how each of their last five fights ended.
