Umar Nurmagomedov is 20-1. The single blemish on his career has a name: Merab Dvalishvili, on January 18, 2025 at UFC 311, with the title on the line. Unanimous decision, 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 — a fight he led on two cards after ten minutes before Dvalishvili’s pace caught up with him.

Put plainly: if he wins on Saturday and Dvalishvili takes the belt back in October, Umar walks straight back into the man who wore him down, with the same thing at stake.

The two losses that stalled Song Yadong

Song has been stopped by exactly the two men who matter. Petr Yan outpointed him at UFC 299 in March 2024, three cards at 29-28. Then Sean O’Malley beat him by the same margin at UFC 324 in January 2026. Two close decisions, two closed doors.

At media day, Song ripped his shirt off during the faceoff. Umar, for his part, promised “bad news” for his opponent. The Russian did take the trouble to correct a translation that had put harsher words in his mouth: he says he never called Song a punching bag, and describes him as “a good fighter, a tough guy, with a lot of experience.”
