62 seconds for a belt
Gustavo Sousa grabbed Paddy McCorry’s neck against the cage in the opening seconds, then locked in a D’Arce choke. McCorry went out and the referee stopped the fight at 1:02 of round 1. Cage Warriors called it one of the biggest upsets in its history.
From replacement to champion
Sousa was not the original opponent: Cage Warriors first announced Brazil’s Julio Spadaccini, before Sousa took his place on the official card published on September 22. He came in at 7-2 and leaves as champion at 8-2.
McCorry’s 1st defense ends early
Paddy McCorry, champion since beating Dario Bellandi at CW 200 in the same city, was defending his belt for the 1st time. He drops to 8-2 and loses the title in front of his Irish crowd.
