Baybatyrov beats Trivunovic in 45 seconds in Rouen, a day after missing weight again
Anzor Baybatyrov beats Bozidar Trivunovic by TKO in 45 seconds in the main event of Hexagone MMA in Rouen, the promotion’s first night in Normandy. The finish was as fast as his knockout of Paul Dena in June. The build-up was not as clean: for the second fight in a row, Baybatyrov missed weight the day before.

How Baybatyrov finished Trivunovic
Low kicks, then the storm
Trivunovic arrived taller and longer, and the plan for him was to keep Baybatyrov at range. He never got the chance. From the opening seconds, Baybatyrov attacked the lead leg with heavy low kicks that took Trivunovic’s balance and pushed him backward.
Once the Serbian was retreating, Baybatyrov closed in with a combination that put him on the canvas. Trivunovic got back up, but was pinned against the cage and absorbed more strikes until the referee stepped in. The official time was 45 seconds of the first round.
Two fights, two fast finishes
In June in Lyon, Baybatyrov knocked out the unbeaten Paul Dena in 98 seconds in front of more than 12,000 spectators. In Rouen, as the favorite and at home in Normandy, he needed even less time. His record now stands at 8-2.
The missed weight that shadows the win
67.9 kg on the scale
The night before the event, Baybatyrov stepped on the scale at 67.9 kg and missed the featherweight limit, according to French outlet La Sueur and the promotion’s own images. Trivunovic made weight and agreed to go ahead, which saved the main event of the promotion’s first card in Normandy.
Not the first time
It was the second fight in a row. Before the Dena fight in June he had also missed weight, by 400 grams by his own account, and he explained then that his body had stopped cooperating but that nobody wanted to cancel a fight the fans had waited so long for. After Saturday’s win he apologized on the microphone and promised to fix the issue.
That promise matters for what comes next. A fighter who keeps missing weight becomes hard to book in a title picture, and Hexagone will want its most exciting featherweight to fight on the scale as well as in the cage.
I missed weight by 400 grams, but my body just wouldn't listen to me anymore. But we didn't want to cancel this event, I know people have been waiting a very long time for this fight.
